Default Drop in Bedliner

What is the proper part number for an '09 quad cab drop in under the rail bedliner (without ramboxes)? Before anyone says it, yes I would have loved to have had it line-x'd but theres a mopar accessories sale on right now and it was about $250 cheaper for the drop in than to get it line-x'd and cash is a little tight right now. I figured drop in is better than nothing at all.

When I looked it up on the net and spoke to the parts dept at my dealer I was under the impression that the part number was 82211318AB, but after having it installed today I noticed that both the liner and the invoice state the part number is 82211318AC.

Whats the difference here? Not having much luck getting a definitive answer from seraching the net. I only ask because it almost seems like the liner is too small. Theres a 1" gap at the back of the bed piece where there is exposed paint, and the tailgate piece is about 1.5"-2" short of coming all the way to the bottom of the tailgate. Is this normal? I don't remember the drop in in my '08 leaving this much exposed paint. Seems pretty obvious to me that it won't take long for those exposed areas to become scratched and damaged.

Thanks

You don't list where you are located....I would sell you the new one out of my 2010 for $200.
Mopar sticker says....82211318AB

Thanks for the offer but I have already had it installed just this morning. It was when I got home and looked a bit closer at the fit and noticed the gaps that I started checking to make sure it was the right part. I don't know what the differences are just that the one I was quoted on by the parts manager ended in AB and the one installed in my truck ends in AC. I am wondering if since its the same part # that maybe the letter code has to do with whats stamped on the head (i.e: Nothing, Rams Head, Hemi etc.) but don't know for sure.

The fit just seems counterproductive to me. Why make a bedliner that doesn't cover the whole bed? If I wanted to have to be worried and careful everytime I wanted to toss a load of stone or something in the back and then see the paint scratched and rusting I wouldve just saved myself $300 and left it bare. Its almost like buying a tire that only has tread on half of the tire. Might as well of just kept driving on the bald ones!

I'm thinking I am gonna have to go get those pieces line-x'd now anyway before they get damaged and start rusting.....so much for trying to keep the budget down.

I don't know why it fits the way it does, but I believe Chrysler's part number system changes the letters on the end as the parts 'evolve'. i.e. If they revise a part and change it somehow but it is for the same application they change the letters. So 'AC' is the next iteration of the part that used to be 'AB'. This is just my speculation based on seeing Mopar numbers for many years.

Exactly what it is when the part has a change so do the letters on the end.

Excellent. Thanks for clearing that up. At least I know I have the right part for sure now. Just an odd fit.
