Default mds driving in 5th instead????

Just got my 2010 ram a few months ago. My only complaint is I hate the MDS
system in the city. High way is OK, but I noticed it doesn't work with cruise control all the time.

My question is. Is it OK to drive in the auto stick mode. Gear 5. I notice that it works like a normal automatic and never goes into Eco mode. DOES THIS HAVE ANY NEGATIVE EFFECT on the truck?
Thanks

It won't hurt anything. There are plenty of people that do it on here. Like you, I'll drop it down into 5th when going around the surface streets. I know my boss, who has a 2009 Lone Star, drives his in 5th all the time.

If you want to remove MDS all the time, a tuner like Superchips will give you the option to turn it off completely.

I must be missing something. I can not tell when my MDS kicks in or out unless I watch the ECO light. Why does it bug everyone so much?

If you have the stock exhaust, then you probably can't tell unless you're listening for it. Throw on a Magnaflow or Flowmaster and you'll hear it for sure. It's not horrible at highway speeds, but tooling around the city at 35 and it'll sound like crap.

Guess I am sensitive.
The exhaust note will change and you can feel the change very easy driving through at low speeds. Hard to tell when you are at highway speeds.
When it cuts on and you have the transmission shift at the same time you can feel a slight clunk.
