Speedometer Calibration
I'm hoping someone can help me, I am having the Mopar 4 inch lift put on my 2010 Ram 1500 and need to calibrate my speedometer for the 37 inch tires.
The dealership can only calibrate up to a 33 inch tire and said that I need to buy an aftermarket calibrator to do it for the 37's. The only catch is that many of the calibrators change the actual programming of the truck which voids the powertrain warranty, which would make choosing the Mopar 4 inch lift over the 6-inch Superlift which is what I really wanted, a moot point.
Hypertech has an inline speedometer calibrator but they do not make one for my truck. Are there any other products out there that calibrate the speedometer without changing the computers programming? Does anyone else have a solution to this problem?
I have to have an accurate speedometer because of where I live and where I work, there are cops EVERYWHERE.

I have navigation in my truck (came from the factory with it) but it doesn't display the speed, or atleast I don't know how to get it to show up. I need to find a solution to adjust my speedometer the right way though.
The part number from Hypertech # 752001 only calibrates the tire and gear.
It does not provide any tuning at all and should have no effect on the warranty.
By correcting the tire size you not only correct the odometer but you also allow the transmission to shift corectly.
You may want to let the dealer know this and see if they will approve.
This is the same part number the dealers use when they modify vehicles to sell from the lot themselves.

Is this something that I can install one time or will I have to remove it before I take the vehicle in for service each time? Will it have any effect on emissions? (they are required where I live). I hope the dealer will be ok with this, I feel like I have exhausted all of my other options.
This part number is a program and not an "in line" device so you should remove before service at the dealer to avoid the chances being "flashed" over if they update your computer.
Since you will be making no changes to the tuning of the vehicle there will be no effect on emissions.
One would think the dealer would want to reduce wear and tear on the transmission and load on the engine by correcting for the tire size changes made.
Good Luck

I would think that putting 37" tires on the truck would have the potential to void parts of the drivetrain warranty as well - especially if you are not re-gearing the truck so that it falls into a final drive ratio that is within factory norms.
