Factory Backup Camera Install ?
Bought MyGIG RER radio from ebay and installed, and everything worked great (DVD,NAV, SAT, etc.). I decided to install a backup camera and choose the factory in the tailgate handle unit. I had the dealer install but after two trips all I have is a green line on the screen when vehicle is in reverse (no picture). They Starscaned but said since the radio was originally installed in another vehicle it won't work. Sounds fishy to me, as everything else works. I bought a lockpick hopng this might be a solution, but same green line when in camera mode. Lockpick allows DVD in motion which works and the vehicle does not have to be in reverse now to get the green line. I checked the power and ground wires. Has anyone done an install like this and had any issues? Anything you, or dealer, did to make it work?
maybe reversed power lines going into camera, in other words, the positive is conected to negative and negative to positive, just a tought, try an aftermarket camera like i did and works great, check the video cable too

Thanks for the feedback to date. I checked the power and ground and confirmed they are functioning correctly. Also powered and grounded separately via lock pick, same green line, so I agree it must be video wires, or problem with Radio or camera. I also double checked the connectors and pins on the radio and camera. The factory camera connector is a six pin connector (only uses five pins) and not the standard RCA, power and ground wire set up, so I am trying to figure out how to test the camera separate from the factory wiring harness to rule out bad video connection or wiring issue. Anyone with knowledge about wiring video? Can any type of wire work? The factory connection has two separate wires (separate pin connections in one rectangular plug). I have not cut them so not sure what is inside the coating. I assume it is just a standard copper wire twist. The RCA wire has an inner wire, coated sheath, outer wire and outer coating. So I assume the RCA is a two wires in one. If I connect two wires from the pins of the factory camera, does it matter which one is connected to the inner and outer of the RCA? This way I could try to wire the camera through the lock pick (has video input via RCA connector) bypassing the factory wiring bundle. I may also try to find a way to connect the camera to a separate video monitor to see it camera works. I may also go buy a cheap after market camera and try to connect to eliminate radio as a root cause. The dealer still is sticking to the radio as the problem.

I am in no way somone who really knows this stuff. After searching the internet it appears the outer portion of the RCA plug is ground and the pin is the signal. I would assume you could try it both ways without harming the camera. Good luck.
