Dents in roof on 2009 1500
While mowing the back hill side today I looked down at my truck and saw dents along the front of the channel lines on the roof. They are on the front and some are worse than others.
I can't see them as well if I hop up on the floorboards and look but they are there. I can't remember seeing them when I washed the truck but never really looked at it too close as I was soaping it up.
Anyone see these on there trucks? The metal up there is pretty flimsy so whats the chance I did it washing the truck?
I'm going to the dealer for a oil change soon so I want to see if anyone else has had this problem before I go. I bought the truck in December so it's the first visit to the dealer.
I'll try to post some pix.

I was washing my truck and noticed a large dent on the roof of the cab. I know I havent ever hit anything or done anything to cause this. I bought the truck in February 2010 and I know there is nothing I can do about it now but next time I will hop in the bed and check the roof out before I buy a truck.
I too have a large dent on the roof right in front of the channel line. My vehicle had to have this prior to me taking ownership.....as I haven't had it anywhere for this to happen. It's a pretty large dent too.....can't believe I didn't notice it when I looked it over at the dealership. Let us know what you find out. My vehicle is a 2010 brought it home in December 2009.
Heavy snow (a lot) on the roof of the cab can cause dents on some models of trucks (late model chevy quad cabs, I believe). I am unsure of how much structural support the ram has for the roof and if the snow would cause this?
I had dents on my roof when I purchased my truck also. Our driveway has a downward pitch towards the house. When I got the truck home; parked and opened the garage door the next morning, the first thing I noticed was the dents on the roof. Took it back to the dealer and they told me this was common. They told me when the sunroof gets pressed in at the factory that it does dent the roof sometimes around the corners. I looked on the lot and some other trucks also had the dents. They had the dent guy come out and roll them out....Good as new, he also said the same about the roof being thin and this is a problem area. The dealer said the inspection guy at the lot usually catches these dents, but mine got through.
Yeah it could be from snow load I guess. We had about 30 inches at one time back when everyone got clobbered. Still sucks for what these trucks cost. My dealer offers a 90 day dent repair for free to keep "your new ride looking new" of course I notice this about 180 days in. We'll see what they say when I get it in to them.
