What are some simple changes you've made to your '10 1500's audio system to improve the sound. Stock is OK but lacks good clariy in the mids and treble./ Gets boomy pretty quick. I didn't want to give up my rear seat stow space but stereo guys said that's where they would put a sub/amp. I'm wondering what some simple changes may have been done that actually made a decent impact. Like you just changed the front components and it was night and day etc. I already have some Boston Acoustics 6&3/4 components I bought for another car that I want to try but Cartoys said the Dodge amp won't put out enough power for them. Plus it seems bypassing the Dodge amp becomes very expensive with all the different harness's etc needed.

I went into Cartoys just to check out a $450 DD Pioneer touchscreen and after it was all said and done putting in My BA's a sub and a 4 channel amp it was at 2K (quote). I was pretty shocked.

Yeah, I don't want to mess with my bench seat though. Got it so the wife could sit close or the dog, whoever gets there first. I'm also listening to rock, no hip hop or stuff like that so a nice full and tight low end is good but I don't need shake the car next door bass.

 

I added a single 10" pioneer premier sub and pioneer 760w 2ch amp to the factory head unit. It made a night and day difference to my 6 speaker (non-alpine) factory set-up. I did all the work myself and saved a ton of cash, but it was no simple upgrade. I fabricated a fiberglass enclosure that sits perfectly under the driver side rear seat in my 09 CC Ram. I mounted the amp on the passenger side behind the rear seat. Had to remove the entire rear seat to mount everything and hide all the wires. I tapped into the rear speakers using the high level inputs and tuned the amp sensativity to match the factory deck. Now I can control the sub using the bass adjustment on the radio. I also installed a toggle switch on the dash so I can turn off the sub (remote wire) completely when needed and return to the factory speakers only. The install was pretty straight forward for an experienced person. I went this route because I like my Sirrus radio and do not want to lose my subcription, otherwise my first mod would have been to swap out the headunit and start building from there.

Yeah, the first thing I want to change is the head unit to a touchscreen that can do USB. I'm using my phone through the aux but want to use a thumbdrive and be able to see the file info on the screen. I think you can transfer the sirius to another head unit but they need the serial numbers on the old and new unit. Also of course you need a Satellite radio module on the new one if it doesn't come with it already. Not sure if once you take out the Dodge one you would lose it, even if the year isn't up. Unfortunately I wouldn't know how to put in a system in myself, especially if it needs fab work. Looks like I just have to save up and do it when I can afford it. It just feels like such a scam with all the wiring harnesss's and modules "needed" above and beyond the cost of HU/speakers and install.
