Default Help, I need to install an additional Sirius antenna in my truch

WHOOPS I did a typo in the title, it should be truck not truch

My 2010 truck came with a Sirius radio but the antenna is on the rear passenger side of the roof. The radio works OK but the reason I bought the truck is to carry a slide on camper and as soon as I slide in the camper it will block off the antenna.

I need to buy some kind of magnetic mount antenna a mount it on the hood but I want to know where to get a reasonably priced antenna that will work well.

I also want to know where the factory wire to the roof antenna is so I can remove it and plug in the magnetic mount antenna.

I'm looking to do the same thing for the same reason. I'm wondering if they make a splitter for the antenna so you can leave both plugged in at the same time?

A splitter would be the best option if they make one. I am clueless as to what antenna to buy and where to connect it. I read some reviews where the cheap $20 antennas only last 3 months. I don't want to spend a lot of money buying a antenna but I also don't want to waste a lot of money replacing antennas that keep breaking.

The antenna that came with my sony satellite adapter is a nice antenna, I have it stuck to the top of a wheel chair hoist I have in the box which sticks above the truck 6 inches or so, it works so well I can listen in my garage. I have had that antenna on my truck for a while but you will need an adapter for the end to be able to plug it into your radio. Are you sure it won't work with the camper on?

I honestly don't know, I got the truck 18 days ago, but won't be getting the camper for another 2 weeks. The part of the camper that has the bed / sleeping area (this is not a pull behind, it sits in the bed of the truck and covers the entire cab) extends over the cab. I lost reception yesterday when I drove to the dealer and parked under the roof. I did not loose reception when i pulled under the covered area near the fuel pump.

I would back into it without lowering it down and try the sat and if that doesnt work surely not gonna work right down on top of the truck or closer I mean.

I live in SC and am picking up the camper at the factory in New Paris IN to save time, I need it for a trip to NY at the end of May. I am also saving a few hundred dollars on freight. The trip is about 600 miles and I will be listening to the sirius radio on the way up but it would be nice to be able to hear it on the 600 mile trip back to SC. If the radio signal is blocked by the camper it would be nice to have an extra antenna already set up.

If you can get a new antenna with a cord long enough to reach the top of the camper would be your best bet and best reception way up there. Aluminum right?Gotta be some steel somewhere. How about this (Truck Antenna

Model#: SIRTA1C )attached to the camper and you can run a cable and find out which converter you need from a Right-Angle SMB Connector to whatever the OEM connector is for all I know its the same connector. Surely Sirius could help you if you called them but I got this from the Canadian sirius site cuz they I dont have an account with the US one. So I hope you can get something working. I typed this while you were posting your message about saving time sorry. Good Luck anyway.

Thanks for your help but part of my problem is that even if I bought another antenna I don't know where to plug it. I was hoping someone can tell me where to plug it in so I don't have to take apart the whole interior looking for the connection.

By the way I thing the camper is all fiberglass but there may be some metal where the roof air conditioner is. I was thinking of putting a magnetic antenna on the car hood.

Try Crutchfields, they have a magnetic antenna. If there is a way to split the signal, they would know. www.crutchfield.com
