Default 3rd Gen vs 4th Gen quality

Hello,
i need a little advice, iīm looking to buy a 2010 Ram, but with all the little problemīs (chrome bumper rust, thin metal....) i see, i donīt know if itīs the right choice. For all, that had both (the 3rd and the 4th Gen), would you buy it again or better stay with the 3rd gen??
I doesnīt mean the look or the new features, just the build quality??

Best Regards from Germany

Hands down 4th gen. For the record I have owned 4 3rd gens, and just got a 4th gen. Also I used to build both gens at the plant. Hands down 4th gen, much better truck overall!

Well get the sport version without the chrome and you will be all set plus it looks much nice imho than the Laramie or and version with chrome. Wow you will get all the looks if you bring one of these Sport Version be sure to get the body colour matching grill also. Even around here I have had mine for a year and people still look at it, maybe they think, nice truck or maybe look at all those carbon footprints he is leaving, or maybe they think I wish I had a truck so I wouldn't have to bug my friends all the time when I need a truck.

I've never had a 3rd gen but my 4th gen is great. Much better build quality than my 08 GMC Sierra.

I like the look of the 3rd gens better but I can't get past all the improved features that the 4th gen has over the 3rd.

Had '06 and '08 trucks at work before I bought a personal '10. Overall build quality, ride quality, and ergonomics is much higher in the 4th Gen. That said, the paint and chrome on my new truck seem to be not as nice as the 3rd Gen.

4th is better, cant really say the metal is thinner, seems the same to me, unless you have actual build specs on the sheet metal to say otherwise. Live in South florida with salt air and I go to beach/boat ramp often and have no issues with the chrome as of yet, owned two 3rd gens and loved them but I would say the 4 is tops unless you are one of these anti mds minded.

I'll go w/ everyone else and say 4th Gen. i had a 2006 w/ 4.7 and a 2008 w/ a Hemi, and now i have a 2009 sport and couldn't be happier. The interior quality is way nicer than the previous models. As for all of the problems you are seeing on here. The people that love their trucks and aren't having any problems are not the ones posting on here. It's the people having "Freak" problems w/ their vehicles and trying to find answers. Plus, even if you did have a problem w/ your truck if you got one...WARRANTY!!!! I drove all other trucks before I got my new ram and as soon as I saw the sport model I took it out for a test drive and bought one right there. For the extra money the higher end models are well worth it. I know someone who got a basic 2010 ram with the 4.7 and it is still really nice in my opinion.

4th gen quality is very much better than 3rd gen. You have to remember that most people go to these boards to complaine or get help to see if they are the only ones with these issues, bumper rust etc... I have had no issues

Another enthusiastic vote for 4th gen. Although I never owned a 3rd gen, I drove them a LOT for work. The dash was hard plastic and just looked cheap. The fit and finish of the 4th gen just blows the 3rd gen away. Not just the build quality but the quality of materials has improved. The sheet metal was pretty much the same thickness in the 3rd gens as it is in the 4th.

4TH GEN VOTE HERE!!!!!!!!!! I owned a 3rd Gen and loved it but love the 4th Gen more. i dont have any paint problems. No chrone on my truck so thats an N/A. I got the TRX package so i got twotone paint. Orange/Grey trim. Ok I do havechrome steps that got a couple rust dots but i blame that on Germany and the salt. All in all 4th Gen is more comfortable to sit in, smoother to ride in. and easier to turn heads in. lol.
