Default Replacing stock tires right away

When I get my new truck I'm thinking of replacing the (0 miles) stock tires with something that is a little more aggressive for mud and snow use. I'm sure the stock Goodyears are decent, but I'd prefer something that gives me a little more confidence if I have to drive out in a muddy field or drive in some significant snow & ice.

For anyone who has swapped their stock tires right away, what have you done to reclaim the value of the originals? I called Tires Plus and Discount Tire in my area and they both basically said they didn't do 'trade ins' of new OEM tires. I had thought I might get at least 50% of the new cost of the Goodyears as a 'trade' but I guess not. Did you sell them on Craigslist or something, or do you just eat the whole cost of the replacement tires? If there's no way to trade or sell the originals I guess I'll have to wait until the stockers wear out.

Thanks,
Rob

Good luck not too many fans of these tires....you included it looks like. There used to be a lot of places that would grab up take offs, and give you decent price off your new tires when you buy them but since factory tires s u c k these days its doesn't happen much. I got offered 100 bucks. FOR ALL 4

I got 900 for my stockers and rims. Basically, I got the money for the rims and tossed in the tires for free. The stock tires suck....

Craigs list is always a good way to go. Just dont get greedy with the price and you'll be off with the old, & on with new in no time.
Word of mouth works a mean number too, let everyone you talk to know you have new shoes for sale.

Good luck

I'm just looking to swap the tires, not the wheels. Probably means I won't get much for the tires alone. I'll explore the CL idea though...

Thanks,
Rob

I'm trying to get as many miles out of them as I can, but I'm not a fan at all of them. I figure when I finally do get my new wheels, I'll just do like TI and throw the tires in with the rims.

I have the factory 275/60/20 tires with the white lettering. I was wanting to upgrade to some larger more off road terrain type of tire. I was thinking Discount Tire would give you some sort of credit for these if you purschased tires from them. My tires only have 250 miles on them lol
