Default Metal Tailgate Cap and Box Rail Covers

Does anyone know if there is any company that makes a metal (perhaps diamond checkerplate) replacement for the tailgate cap or the box rail covers? I am cursing at the factory plastic ones, between nearly ripping the tailgate cap off one day while unloading things and it getting scratched to **** through some light use. Someone must see that there is a market for an improved metal version.

I thought about removing the covers completely and getting it done with sprayed on liner but the tailgate has large holes that would quickly collect debris and would be far too big just to spray over.

Any help would be appreciated.

DeeZee Truck Accessories has a diamond plate side rail cap. I am not sure about the tailgate cap though.

DeeZee actually has the tailgate part as well. It comes in black or bright silver. It goes over the cap and covers the entire inside of the tailgate as well. They don't have an installed picture for the black one, but do have one for the silver.

Just looked on their site. They also have just the cap that matches the side rails.

Not sure. I haven't bought any, but you'd think you would. If they designed them to just sit on top of the factory plastic ones, then what would stop you from tearing off both, especially the tailgate piece. If you contact them interested in buying, they should be able to send you the installation instructions.

If you do get them, please post up some photos and let us see them.

I have them, the side rails are stuck on using 3m double sided tape, the tail gate cap is also held on with the tape and also has 2 screws to prevent it from "popping" off. Overall Im pleased with the set up. I can take pictures if needed. I also have a second set ...black... sitting in my garage if anyone is interested for a discounted price. PM me any questions.

That looks good. If I have issues with mine ill go with the black on black too.

Have you noticed if the tool box lowered your gas mileage? It seems to me that it might mess up to pocket of air in the bed.
