Back To Trailer Brake Controller
I have a 2010 quad cab ( Aug. 2009 build date) with a class IV hitch. Under the dash it appears that I have 2 grey plugs. I have been reading and rereading the information on adding a Chrysler made brake controller. From what I have read, you can add it but it might show a TIPM trouble code. My question is if I were to added an after market controller such as a Prodigy, I would only use one of the plugs under the dash and everything would work. If that is the case, couldn’t I just plug that same plug into the Chrysler controller and it would work without it possibly sending a TIPM code out. Sorry for such a long question. Thanks
Sounds reasonable, but no. The OEM needs to communicate with the canbus in order to work. Just hooking up the 3 wires a typical controler uses will not get the OEM to fire up.
I just wish I could find out the locations and names/product numbers of the other modules needed to get it to work 100%. But just like our lovely Ram R/T who won't help with the PushNGo, those who supposedly know aren't telling. Given time, I will find a truck in a junkyard and would love to snag the parts to make it 100% functional with the EVIC and throw no codes.
