Yeah! My in-laws have a 1999 Ram 2500 Quad Cab with the 8.0L (488 c.i.) V10 and 47RE transmission and it does not have a Tow/Haul button. It has an "Overdrive Off" button.

Well I think some of the older trucks had the "Tow" button on the shifter. It wasn't as sophisticated as the ones we have now, but the whole point of turning off OD was so the tranny wouldn't shift into it when you were hauling a load. I don't know what the exact lingo was for the button, but it served the same purpose.

Well the gears will show up on the EVIC, but it will shift on it's own. You don't have ot manually shift. At least you shouldn't. I don't manually shift on mine.

Tow/haul and OD off was/is two different things. Tow/haul altered the valving in the valve body and shift points etc. Plus added some minor braking, downshifting when slowing. OD off was just that OD off. Tow/haul first appeared in 2005. Before that it was only OD off. In 2005 it was a true Tow/haul and you could not turn OD off. In 06 you could do both. Tow /haul and turn OD off if you so chose or just OD off etc.

Ok. I don't know what years what was in use, but the OD off was basically a earlier version of the Tow/Haul button that we use now, it just didn't change shift points or anything like that.

YEP.04 Back was just OD off and it was that way for years. I had a 1990 D350 and it had OD off(button on the dash) and it wasn't a new feature then.

No, it will be blank. If you put it in 5 you lock out top gear so by inference top gear would be 6th. 4 locks it in direct and EVIC shows the two 2nds as 2 and 3. It would be less confusing if Chrysler had designed the indicator to be capable of displaying the gears with the same numbering system engineering uses.

Called the dealership today and he told me he had a torque converter on order and will have my truck early next week ready. So looks like my torque converter was bad, which will probably answer alot of my problems. Can't wait to start towing again and see the difference, i love my truck again.
