Some Kind Of Coating On The Paint
I have a '09 Ram 1500 Quad Cab in Black Crystal Pearl Coat. The paint job is about as good as I have ever had.
When I look at it close, it appears to have some kind of film on it. If I rub real hard with a clean cloth it eventually comes off. I keep it clean. When it gets real dirty I go to the car wash. Most of the time I use Meguiar's Quik Detailer.
What can I use to remove this film?
Thanks,
Jack

Claybar. Mqguiars makes a kit, in which is the bar, rag and a bottle of the detailer you mentioned.
Now, I will warn you since you have a black truck. Be careful as black will show the littlest of scratches.

Do you park under a tree because there is a f.....g tree next door that hang almost over my driveway that emits sap all day and night like a light rain almost sometimes. Now it washes off easy but, you cannot keep a clean car. It is on the city property we complained they did nothing.
hey Jack i think what your mentioning about the paint is more likely what they call FALLOUT, it is caused from these trucks being ship on the trains. it is infact diesel exhaust and other acid rain materials that get imbeded into the paint surface. My brother is a professional detailer at a dodge ram store for 20 years they use a liquid called fallout spray it is a diluted form of acid very mild, you spray it on leave it sit for about 20 to 30min they wash off, it will take about 90% of the fallout off and like the other post just finish it up with a clay bar and warm water or spray shine.
