2010 dodge ram 1500, there is a little square black thing on the roof on the passenger side near the back

Its your antenna for your Sirius Radio.

Your antenna for the navigation is in your dash ontop of your RER Radio.

 

What's that little dome looking thing at the base of the windshield about dead center where it meets the dashboard.

Why is it called a dashboard?

 

I believe that little dome thing is a light sensor....

The term dashboard comes from when it was originally just a board at the front of a horse-drawn carriage, the board to prevent things getting thrown up at the passengers from the horses feet.... when they dash..... ha

 

isnt the gps antenna on the drivers rear roof and sirius on th epass rear roof. i dont know how the antenna can work for the gps being inside the dash.

 

I have no idea where the antenna for the GPS on nav-enabled models works, but having it around the dash area isn't necessarily that bad of a location. Look at all the portable GPS devices that work attached to the windshield, stuck to the dash, or hanging off of the dashboard.

The Nav antenna is in the dash basically on top of the radio.
