Default Sport with chrome billet or black honeycomb grill

In Canada, I keep seeing 2010 Ram 4x4 Sport crewcabs at the dealeships with different grills. All have the body colour grill, but the insert is sometimes the chrome billet and other times the black honeycomb insert. I can't find any info as to why they differ or if one has a chrome package over the other. Anyone have any idea? I've attached a couple of sample pics.

I don't think anyone knows exactly what they're doing. Sports are supposed to come with body color and billet but it seems like they've had supply issues and they randomly sub whatever they have on hand.

All the sports in Canada come with the honeycomb grille standard on the sport I have not seen a billet grille on a lot here. Gotta be a US thing. I noticed that most of you guys not all but most get into all the chrome snap on parts(door handles) stuff like that and anything you can get chrome it is. I just think chrome rims are enough on these trucks I prefer the monotone paint with the Sport package. Canadian style. Now not to say your trucks don't look good, just when chrome clad, and brite bumpers and things like that start getting used instead of the word all alone , Chrome, then well from all the guys complaining about rusting chrome bumpers. Do they really have actual chrome bumpers?

I have a Canadian 2010 Sport with the honeycomb. I agree with 72combo. I hate chrome and if my truck had the chrome inserts, I would be replacing it with the honeycomb. The Sport models don't have any chrome to begin with (except rims), so I don't know why they would put chrome inserts in. I went to a dealership the other day and all the new Sport models there had the chrome billet inserts, so it looks like they switched to that style now. Lucky I got an early 2010 I guess.

Default about the two grilles

hey guys I just got my 2010 ram sport (black) this saturday, and it came with a chrome grille, here's the scoop from the GM at Sherwood Park dodge. These trucks are built in Warren, Michigan and yes they are having supply issues with the parts dealers. Some of the trucks are coming with what ever grille they have on there table at that time, my truck was shipped with 4 other sport 1500s and 2 have chrome and the others the black honeycomb. I will post pics of my truck this week it snowed here on the weekend hell of a day for a new truck delivery but hey its Alberta.

I think I figured it out after tooling around a few dealership lot today while they were closed. It appears if you get the Sport Quad cab, you get the black honeycomb grill and if you get the Sport Crew cab you get the chrome billet insert.

I think it's entirely a supply issue. If there is a pattern it is probably just based on the production runs they do (i.e. a bunch of quad cabs at a time, etc.).

I don't know then. I've heard on other forums that the grill insert on the Sport is somewhat random between the chrome billet and black honeycomb unless you specify on a factory order.
