Default Sway & Weight Control

I have a 2010 Dodge Quad/4x4/5.7 and 3.55 gears with the 20 tires.

I am looking at getting a camper in the 4000-5000 lb range. I assume I should just get the weight equalizer but what about sway control? i was reading and the new dodge has sway control built into the brakes?

Is it a good/bad idea to have it on both? kinda like having 2 ujointes welded together?

Should I just get the weight control?

OR should I get that big $500 equal-i-zer that does all in 1?

I am new to hauling to i need some help.

ps - I will also be getting the trailer brakes from the dealer..

in my experience the load equalizing hitches do take much of the sway out, and make a world of difference in the overall towing experience. i wouldnt spend the extra on the sway control setup.

That is not the limit even you can tow so I wouldn't worry about it.

Get the Equal-i-zer brand hitch, it has the sway control built in. I've been using one for about 8 years now with no problem. I've had the same one on my E350 van, my 1500 Ram and now on my current truck. No sway problems at all. My trailer is in the same weight range that you are looking at.

There is no extra cost, sway control is part of the hitch.

Ok, I am getting some mixed signals.. is this a TRUE statement.
1: I dont need sway since the truck has it built into the brakes..

2: The equalizer will help ballance the load accross the truck putting less train on the tail end and it equats to a longer truck.

in the end I get a 250 equalizer and call it a day?

Get the Equal-i-zer you won't regret it. It will stop the truck squatting and give you sway control at the same time. If you want more input go to RV.net and ask there, you will get replys from people that actual tow a trailer and I'll bet most would agree that you should get sway control.
