Default Uneven headlights

After installing HIDs today and getting things back together I noticed that the driver's side light is aimed higher than the passenger side. I just got the truck so I don't really know if it was like this before or not. I took things apart again and tried to make sure everything was together correctly. The driver's side has a solid 'pop' as the ball slips into the plastic socket. The other side is not that defined. But I tried repeatedly and it seems like it only will push back into place one way.

Anyone have any tips on what I might be doing wrong? Or is it possible the aiming is just wrong and I have to adjust the height? How is that done?

Thanks,
Rob

Making everyone who comes at you blind is what you are doing wrong. I drive one of these and my buddy has one and is trying to talking me into some deal on a forum to get HID lights on the cheap if they get enough sales. He has had them for a while and the other night this truck was coming at me and I was swearing at him and flicking my high beams then when I realized it was him I turned around and he was waiting for me. That was when I made up my mind. Those are unnecessary in the city, now if you live in the country well maybe.

maybe off topic a tad, but I went on a long drive at night with my new 2010 and I kept getting other drivers flashing at me like they thought I had my brights on, but I didn't....

are the stock headlights brighter than most, or could I have an aiming issue even though the truck is brand new?

it is entirely possible that you have one headlight that is pointed up higher. You need to pull up to a wall at night and turn on your headlights and make sure that they are both at the same height. There is a screw type adjustment to change them on top of the front fender under the hood.

Are there any instructions for adjusting the headlights? Such as where the screw is an what direction to turn for up/down? Also, any specs as to how high the beams should be on a wall at XX feet of distance?

Thanks,
Rob

I took things apart again and figured out how to adjust the beam height. Now they are both even. We'll see if I adjusted the correct one if I get a lot of light flashing from other cars. If I should have gone the other way on the other beam that will be an easy reversal.

On a side note, I also found a minor f-up by the factory. The Sport bumper cover had one plastic tab not seated in the receiving notch on the frame. This made it stick out about an extra 1/4" right under the headlight. Fixed that too.

See the round hole and the oblong hole on the left side of the fender in this pic? It's the round one. You need a T-10 torx that is about 5" long to get to the adjuster screw. You can also use a hex socket but I don't know the size. Probably 8 or 9mm.
