looking at a 2009 ram 1500, is it a good deal?

I'd say that is a good deal. I've seen better deals but there will always be a better deal somewhere.

If you like it then buy it. $10,000 more for a new one. However..that's $200 more a month. That new truck will also depreciate HUGE when you drive it off the lot. In less than a year or 28,000 miles...you will have spent more and gotten a vehicle worth the same as the price on the 09.

I just got a 2010, Quad Cab, 4x4, Big Horn, 5.7 for $12K off MSRP, excellent K BB trade in value, and an at cost 5yr100K miles extended warranty AND they paid my first months car payment. Paid 27K for the truck, so 22K for a 2009 seems a bit high.

They are looking to deal right now on new ones.

They just get boring or something else comes along. If I lived in a place without snow I would be in an SRT8 Challenger with a supercharger and all the goodies you can get performance wise. Soon.
