Some questions on MyGig functionality
After playing with my new truck's radio for a week or so I have some questions about the MyGig radio. Just wondering if others have encountered the same questions and found ways to deal with them...
1. Radio presets. Having the soft keys is nowhere near as useful as just having 6 fixed hard keys. Now, to change a preset you have to pull up the present 'page', then successfully press the preset. I like to see song info so I like to stay on the info page, but I also like to change stations at commercials. Kind of a pain with this radio. I know I can use the steering wheel control to change presets, but I only have 4-5 presets and the button scrolls through all of them before going back to the top. Any way to 'delete' some presets or blank them out so the steering wheel button ignores some?
2. Pressing soft keys. I seem to have about 80% success at pressing the soft keys (primarily presets). The other 20% of the time the radio seems to register the press (the button changes color and it beeps) but nothing happens. Anyone else have this?
3. Hard drive loading. It takes several hours to load 16GB of songs off of a USB thumb drive onto the radio. I'm left with just leaving the key in ACC and the radio on while the truck sits in the garage. Seems like a poor scenario. Wish file transfer was faster.
4. Hard drive file management. After loading up the HD with songs I realized that I copied a bit too deeply from my collection. I'd love to selectively delete some files (album folders, actually). But I seem to only be able to 'delete all files'. Which would put me back at re-loading the entire drive from scratch. Surely there must be a way to manage files better than this??
5. Playlists. I understand that playlists are automatically generated when the files are loaded to the drive. But with that many playlists it really makes them hard to deal with. Does anyone have a creative way to manage playlists or to set up folder structures to make them more useful?
Thanks,
Rob

It was definitely quicker to load the flash drive at the computer than to download to the MyGig. I'd only be guessing, but I'd say 20-30 minutes on the computer and 1.5-2 hours on the truck. Not sure, but I'm thinking the MyGig is only USB 1.1, whereas my computer is 2.0. My truck was on ACC one whole evening in the garage while loading up the HDD the first time. I was worried the battery would be dead...

One workaround I came up with for the preset selection is to duplicate my presets. You get three pages of 4 presets, so if you have 3, 4, or 6 you can just repeat them (i.e. 1 is the same as 5, is the same as 9). That way I can use the steering wheel control to cycle through more quickly. Four main station presets works for me for 95% of the time.

Well i think I can help with your first question. I only use about 5 presets as well. Whenever I want to change from preset 4 to preset 2 I simple use the toggle on the left side of the steering wheel controls to move up or down one channel and then I press the center button on the left side of the wheel for the presets and it will automatically go back to my first preset so i can scroll through them from the beginning again.

I have the 2010 RBZ. You can delete single songs. I realized that setup (how the songs are put on the drive) was important. I created folders for my artist. When you copy a folder to the drive it creates a playlist. If you go to "My Music" you can edit playlists. There you can either delete the entire playlist or delete a single song from the playlist.
