I bought my truck at Albany Dodge in 2009. Since then, I have called them regarding the tailgate lock - they told me that they never heard of this, never put one on, would not know how to do it. I also called them regarding the fuel saver light - again I was told that they were not aware of this flash, have not done any and I would have to bring my truck in so they could look at it. When I gave them the info over the phone, they would not even acknowledge what I was talking about. I need a dealership in the area that knows something about our trucks so I can get some reliable updates done.

 

Can you cross the border into Canada anywhere near there? Make sure you tell them your truck is from the US. Dealers like to one up each other, you go to one and when their service sucks you go to another and tell them how you got screw but it better be good cuz they might just think you are a whiner and won't want you. Is there only one Albany Dodge?

At the present time, I cannot go into Canada. I do not have a passport or an enhanced NYS drivers license. I am open to reliable dealers in the surrounding area or states.

I currently get my truck serviced at Goldstein Jeep Chrysler Dodge in Latham on Rt 9.

I took it in for the first time 2 weeks ago and they performed like 20 RRT's .. i have an appointment tuesday am to get my new puddle lights installed and new rear door gaskets installed .. the gaskets were binding up and starting to fall down .. and the puddle lights got water in them this winter and the LED's dont even work anymore .. So far they have been good except for 2 things.

1. I mentioned to them the # 7 and #8 exhaust manifold bolts letting go . and that there is a RRT to replace the bolts before they crack .. when i picked up my truck, the return slip said .. " checked for exhaust leaks, none found " .. so it seems they didn'g get an RRT to come up for the bolts and never fixed them.
2. I have the rambox feature on my sport .. the door skins are made of plastic and have warped when subjected to varying temperatures light a hot summer day . There is an RRT for the door skins to be replaced but the tech also noted on the ticket .. somethin like ' no problems found, fixed door skin" .. what he did was simply pop the door skin back into place .. which holds until the next day when the truck goes back into the sun at my parking lot at work.
Since i will be getting more work done Tuesday, I'll bring in the RRT# for the fix, show them the problem .. and ask firmly that my door skins be replaced. They come prepainted.. WTF .. just do the work !!!

I will say that their parts department only has 1 guy manning the one computer and the service desk does have 4 stations but usually only has 2 guys at most running the stations .. so the service department is almost always very busy.
You can try them but i assure you that you will have to make an appointment to stop by and speak to a service tech. Bring him the list of RRT's available that you want done and a description of what they do and i'm sure the service tech will look into what he can do for you. If you call and ask that the tech set 10 minutes aside for you a week in advance, i'm sure they will do something for you.

Thanks for the replies. At this point it appears that there is no dealership in the immediate or adjoining area that are familiar enough to do what I wanted. As my truck is running fine, and these "fixes" are not critical to the operation of my truck, I guess I will hold off for now. Maybe in the future, more dealerships will become familiar with the tailgate lock installation and the economy light flash.

Try Goldstein in Latham, NY which is just outside of Albany. That's where I bring my truck and I never had a problem with them.
