Default Engine Temp? What is average?

Is 204 degrees average for the Coolant temp? I am asking because that is about 20-25 degrees hotter that I have ever seen in other vehicles.. Is it a good idea to go to a 180 thermostat? I live in southern AZ and it is scorching down here and I can only imagine twhat it is doing to the engine..

Thanks for input

I seem to average that for both coolant and oil temp.

I do about 201 or so (give or take) average. Even on a 400 mile trip it'll just sit there...

Normal .About the same here in mid Georgia.Don't use a colder thermostat.May very well hurt your fuel mileage and or set a check engine light.Your not running any hotter then any one else.Stock thermostat is 195degrees. Most ALL late model vehicles run around that temp and have for years.

I'm sure the engine temp is important for MDS operation. MDS activation is based on a lot of separate parameters being within certain ranges before it will be allowed to activate. I wouldn't change to a different thermostat. Just drive the damn thing and have fun.

Mine runs at 204 f normally. 180 degrees f is to cool to run at in this day and age.
