Default OH NO!!!! My brother filled my truck up with 89 0ctane when it needs 93.....

Well my brother filled my truck up with 89 Octane while im using the 93 octane performance tune from superchips. He did it late Saturday night and i couldnt get a hold of a SC rep on sunday. I Drove it kinda hard yesterday and truthfully..... I feel and hear no difference running 89 on my 93 tune. I have half a tank gone already and its running great.

Thoughts?

Doesn't SC have a 89 octane setting ? If so, just down tune until you run empty , then fill up with 93 and go back to the 93 tune if you are that concerned about the situation.

if it is pinging or knocking, put the stock tune back in. If not, just stay off it, no WOT sprints. I did this with my Ford before a dyno day, basically got ripped off by a Citgo station in Virginia. Would have never known until we had the truck on the dyno and saw the knock sensor was pulling timing and my rwhp was down 14 hp from previous dyno days. Amazing what a custom tuner can find. Dodge probably does the same or similar since you can run 89 or 87, it probably just pulls timing back and you have a 375 hp hemi when stock guys are running 87...

We dumped octane boost in, jumped up and down in the bed and spun around the parking lot a few times and all was good on the next pull.

Accidently put 85 octane in my truck when traveling across Nevada. I think they use a lower octane at higher elevations and in colder weather.

Never had a problem or knock even going up 6% grades at 75 mph.

An engine doesn't need as high of octane at higher elevations. I believe 85 at 6000+ feet is equivalent to 87 at lower elevations.

This is quite true. Here at 7000ft the best we can get is 91 octane and my 93 tune is more than happy with that.

I get better mileage on my High Country runs after a fill-up where mid-grade is often only 86 Octane than I do down in the Central AZ desert with City gas that is 89 Octane but 10% Alcohol.
