Remote Start
At the price they are giving you, you may be cheaper going with the factory system. An aftermarket alarm/keyless entry/remote start package would replace your factory keyfob, so there isn't any worry with that. However, the way that most late model vehicles are made, there is an anti-theft prevention built in that protects the vehicle from being started without the correct key in the ignition. This system has to be bypassed to install a remote start, so you will need some sort of bypass module, some of which require an additional key to be kept in the module (inside the vehicle at all times). So by the time you buy the aftermarket alarm, the module for security bypass, and the cost of an installer (I promise you it won't be as cheap as $120), you will likely be spending more on aftermarket system. The only advantage to the aftermarket system would be a more sensitive alarm w/shock sensor and better range. The disadvantage would be cost and possible warranty problems.
Bought the OEM remote start yesterday for $254 including tax. Now just have to get it installed. My service guy is giving me the $120 install price but said its normally more (always remember to chat them up and become friends....they can really take care of you. Im getting it chipped and he said no matter what he'll warranty it for me)
Whats cool is the remote start system comes with two new keys.....which is about the same as to buying the remote start system, so now I'll have four keys incase I break one.....or two

I had the factory remote start installed. My old fobs were programmed to the new unit and work just fine for locking/unlocking and manually starting the truck. I just can't use the old fobs to remote start, but it's nice to know I have 2 backup fobs just in case.
My install was $335 plus tax. The part was on backorder for months, but it cost $235 and I paid $100 labor. This included them reprogramming my original fobs. I have had good luck out it. I had the viper 5701 on my last Ram, but I prefer to only have one fob in my pocket. With the Viper I was always either unarming my truck or remote starting it on accident. It was also a 2 way audible that went off in my pocket all the time. Nothing like sitting in a business meeting and your pocket starts making all kinds of noises.
Needless to say, I do miss the 2 way notification, but I still prefer the OEM one.

I just had my remote start installed yesterday along with the uconnect for my phone. It did come with two new key fobs, but my service tech told me that the technician told her that the old key fobs were now useless and to discard them. She said that they would not work with this or any other vehicle now. Before you rely on having the old key fobs, better check if they work or not.
How much did you pay for the uconnect to be added?
I think it was around $450 for the uconnect installed. I paid around the same for the remote start too. I should have read on here before I bought, you guys got better deals for sure. Nonetheless, I am jazzed about my new truck.
