Default Towing when new?

Hey guys, I am heading out to pull the camper 1K miles and I only have 2100 miles on the truck. I am aware I need to change the oil while on vactaion.. I was trying to find anything about towing under a milage limit.. My trailer is a 26 footer and only weighs 3600 UVW.

(trailer brake module works great!)

that really only applies for if you tow something in the first 500 to 1000 miles. You will be fine.

Go have fun don't even think about it or you will wreck your vacation. Do like me if you see a lube place and you put a thousand or more miles get an oil change....takes minutes and won't hurt.

I'm not aware of a 1000 mile oil change interval. Where does that come from?

Because I am at 2100 now, first oil change should be at 3000..

I have a rock crawler I tow to runs weighing in with the trailer around 4500lbs.

should I try and wait till my truck has a certain amount of miles on it before loading it down like this?

Hmmm so I babied my truck with a light mix of town/highway driving and the change oil message came on at 2,500 miles. So I put the good stuff in it Mobil 1 Synth and again babied the truck yet at 5,000 miles the change oil message came on again wtf?

Irritated I said put some cheap worthless oil in the thing. I loaded the truck with 1,000 pounds, hooked up a 6x12 box trailer and towed it in punishing fashion 3,000 miles across the US. Since then I have put another 500 miles on the truck and...no change oil message. Its like it likes to be driven hard. lol

Can't everyone just stop letting the (apparently random and useless) oil change alert run the show and give you headaches? Just choose an oil change interval that matches your driving characteristics and the owner's manual recommendations and change oil every x,000 miles. It's obvious to me from all the various threads with random alerts that the system isn't worth a damn.
