I am running 2-10'' and a 1000w amp....the dimming occurs immediately at start and lasts about 10min. Headlights and also my interior lights dim. I am looking for the cheapest and easiest fix, since I only notice it at night for about 10min or so. How long does a capacitor hold a charge for? minutes? hours? days?

 

The capacitor is constantly being filled by the alternator, it just stores extra juice for when the system needs more then is being produced. So, when the bass hits, it takes some juice out, in between hits, it is refilling. It is a constant thing. IF your system takes it out faster then it fills, time to add another, you are not there.

 

I have a huge cap that I will sell you , I bought it off ebay and it has been one of those items that keeps getting moved around. I decided that the sound was good enough without an amp so if interested PM me. I will dig it out and take pics and discuss a price.

 

Well since the dimming occurs at startup and not in correlation to the bass, i think you need to check your ground.
