I have a 2010 Quad Cab with the RES radio with the Uconnect buttons. I am considering adding the Uconnect module (part #82211878) and iPod cable (part #82212000), but I had a couple questions.

1. My truck has the auto dimming rearview mirror with the integrated mic. I'm assuming the wiring to use this mic instead of the one supplied with the add-on Uconnect kit is someplace behind the dash, but can anybody who has installed this module confirm this?

2. Does the iPod cable allow any audio from the iPhone to be played through the speakers (Slacker or Pandora radio, for example) or is it just the iPod tunes you have?

3. Do the steering wheel controls work to control the iPod? Does the artist/track name appear on the EVIC?

I have the mirror with the dimmer but I think that there is one that has it and one that does not I didn't even check because the mic has to go to the module that mounts to the passenger side kick panel. Let me know if you find different I would love to get rid of the other mic. As for the iPod cable I have that as well and to be honest I have not tried anything but the iPod I had a iPhone 3G and now an iPhone 4 the wheel controls do work and all it says is "streaming" I have a REN so all the iPod info is on that and my truck is a 09 so the evic is a little different.

 

Are you sure you have a mic or are you confusing the dimmer thing. Is there any buttons for the uconnect on your mirror if not I don't thinkyou have it and if you do you probably have the box already and is just not starscanned in. Drop the lower glove box and you should see a black box about 3x5 and if it is there it should have the ipod cable in the glove box already....Why would you have the mic mirror that is not a cheap item to put on for free, unless you put it there, you will have to find the wiring and its not out there for the RES only for the RER.

You are on the right track by getting that kit and if your ipods are the newer version with the 5v instead of 12 you need the same ipod cable but ends in 1. So be aware of that. Find out if the dealer with starscan it if you install it some won't. Or just do it first and play dumb and ask them why would then sell it to you? Instructions come on a cd for all vehicles. Easy as pie. I would not run the mic all the way up to the ceiling on the a post it just looks dumb there. stick in the to the dash on a black part...since you have the RES I am assuming no heated seats? You can just take the screws out of the small black RAM sign that would normally have your seat heater switches. and take a small file and file the top or bottom corner up to you just enough to put the wire thru so it moves in and out in case you have to take it out whatever...you need a hole that is not noticeable if you don't want it noticeable anyway way easier than pulling the a pillar cover of running the wire all up there. I did it same kit but updated to a REN at the same time but it's the same kit.

 

Oh the ipod only works if you have a touch screen I believe but that might be wrong?????

The dealer specifically said there was an integrated mic on my mirror as he was pointing out features when I took delivery of my truck, however there are no buttons on it for Uconnect. Kind of makes me wonder if he misspoke. I'll take a close look at it later today. Again, thanks for the replies.
