The max torque the 4.7 produces is 330 LB-FT at around 4000 RPMs, the 5.7 produces 330 LB-FT at around 1500 RPMs. There is really no comparison between the two.
According to the charts, there is nowhere the 4.7 comes close to the Hemi's HP/TQ at any RPM. As you stated, there is no comparision.

my mistake, thanks

The chart appears that it doesnt take much rpm for the 4.7 to get up to its max output therefore more low end torque. the 5.7 curve starts out lower and doesnt reach its max till high rpms in the comparison. Either way they are both great engines and they now share some of the same technologies as one another due to the 4.7 remake in 2008

Default Charts are deceiving - different scales for RPM

Actually, they both ramp up at the same rate. The charts are deceiving because the 5.7 chart uses 25 Hp per division whereas the 4.7 uses 75 per. This gives the illusion that the curve is flatter - it is not. I too was fooled at first, so I took the curves and transposed them to the same plot (I used the 5.7 spacing), lo and behold, the curves are just about identical.

If you don't believe me try it yourself - I f I could just find the plot I made, I'd post it.

No I believe you completely. I have a 4th gen hemi and my friend has the 4.7 in his 4th gen> one day we raced and I thought I would walk away with it and he stayed bumper to bumper with me to about 50mph then we let off to avoid cops

Default torque plots 4.7 vs 5.7

Here is the plot I made. You can see the similarity of the curves (move your cursor over it to expand it) - but the hemi is always a lot more

no way you stayed bumper to bumper. My cousin has my exact truck except with the 4.7 instead of the hemi. Crew cab, tires, gears and all and I am a good 3/4 of a truck ahead of him by the time i hit second gear.

yea I find it hard to beleive that the same truck, one Hemi one 4.7 and the 4.7 is a tie, if you would have said off the line sure but would not take much and the Hemi would be in front. Could be wrong but would have to see it in person and inspect the trucks myself. that is given that one driver did not sleep at the wheel on take off.

Back on the towing topic, I had a 2009 quad cab 2wd with the 4.7 and 3.92 gears I now have a 2010 Crew Cab 4wd with the 5.7 and the 3.92 gears. I have a 4000lb boat and trailer combo that I towed with both. While the 4.7 did a superb job the Hemi does a whole lot better. I could barely even tell the boat was back there. The 5.7 accellerated better, had more power when trying to pass and is just an overall better towing motor. Again I state the 4.7 had ample power and I never had an issue with it, the 5.7 IMO is just more powerful and I can feel the difference.
