Default fabricating plate for brake controller

I purchased a Primus IQ brake controller and my dad is going to fabricate a plate out of stainless to hold the brake controller in the small cubby above the brake release handle. After matching the stainless samples to the interior it is time to take out that section of the dash. Has anyone done this yet? I imagine they used those clips that break all the time but want to make sure before I start tugging on it which was the recomendation of my local dealer. Service department advisor stated "We never had to take that out on one so I would just tug a little her and tug a little ther and hopefully it doesn't break on ya." Thanks for the great advice!!!! When all is said and done I will post some pics.

I thought about that when I started this project. My dad works in a stainless shop and he said it depends on how difficult this one is to fabricate. I picked the controller that had the digital display and all forward controls since most have the "oh $%^ lever on the bottom or side. I found the brake controller and harness specific for our truck for $97 with free shipping. This was about 20 less than most others when you included in the harness and shipping. I will let everyone know when it is complete and if we are able to make extras.

I'd make sure you like the Primus first. I bought one once because of the smaller form factor, used it for one trip and then bought another Prodigy.

Also make sure that you actually like the controller in that cubby. From my seating position you can't see it or reach it very easily - and that is universally the complaint you will see about the factory Ram brake controller is the weird location they chose to mount it in.

The cubby is held in with a couple screws. Tug the side panel off, you can reach under and push it out a bit. Also the part under the steering wheel needs to come off. Two screws on the bottom and tug it out, there is a cubby screw hiding under it as well.

That would be an issue, but the factory controller shows up in the dash cluster, you really don't need to look at it. It is perfectly fine of a position to reach down and adjust if needed, at least for me.

I towed with it two weeks ago and liked it better than my stopforce.

That would be nice but some of us, including the OP, don't have a 2010. The factory controller doesn't work on an 09.

And it's just a personal preference but I like to have the oh-sh$T lever where I can get to it easily with my right hand. I've had to use it on more than one occassion in the winter. Every truck I've had/driven had the brake controller mounted it in the middle of the truck. Ford seems to have it figured out - why Dodge and Chevy put it low and to the left is a mystery to me.
