Default Today is the Day!!!!!

Oh yeah!!! Today, I am getting a 2" leveling kit on the front of my '09 Ram 1500 4x4, then off to the tire shop to get new 35" (well 34.5") Goodyear Duratrac tires and a set of ATX "Justice" wheels. Then, time permitting, off to the muffler shop to get my stock muffler and resonators cut off, and my new Borla muffler welded on... Then, if I still have time, to the car wash to get my truck detailed for the weekend!
Next month, it's spay-in bed liner & total replacement of ALL my fluids to Royal Purple.

Sounds like a truck accessory Marathon. Good luck with all of that. I hope you get it all done. Let us know how those tires fit with just a leveling kit.

you better have before and after pics on here tonight then. What gears are in your truck, i'm also thinking about lifting the front and getting bigger tires but i dont want it to kill my mileage or towing. I have the 3.55 gears and they are prefect but i dont know how much power it will take to turn bigger tires.

Just got back... I had time to do everything, even got it clean. I'll post some pics tonight. Here are some of my first impressions:

2" Readylift front-end lift: Defiantly raised it up... felt like I was riding in a 2500. Looked good even before I put on the new tires and wheels.

Borla TurboXL Muffler (no resonator): Oh hell yeah!! Let's see, I originally had just a single out / standard exhaust since I have a regular 4x4 SLT, so I cut off the stock muffler at the catback and also everything after, resonator, piping, etc.. put on a single in, dual out, and just dumped the pipes right before the rear axle (nice and hidden).
Once we cranked it up at the muffler shop it had a very nice deep rumble to it. Muffler guy really liked it too. In the cab it's somewhat loud but not annoyingly so. If it were any louder I might me annoyed, but i put the music on vol. 15 and although I can still hear it, it doesn't bother me that much... figure it will take a while before I get use to it, after all I haven't even had it on a 1/2 day, of course I'm going to notice it.
First impressions; doesn't seem like it will be a bother while having a conversation or anything. When you punch it though, it really opens up. I listened closely when the Fuel Saver kicked in a few times, as I was just cruising around town, and it really didn't sound that different... I mean I could tell it had kicked in, but it wasn't that big of a deal, didn't sound like a rice rocket or anything, like I feared it might. Over all, I love the deep deep rumble sound, much deeper than any of the Flowmasters I've had on previous trucks.

35" Goodyear DuraTracs & ATX Wheels: I went with 17" wheels from my stock 20's, more than anything just to get the $$$price$$$ down. I've stated before, that I was able to get 35" tires and new 17" wheels for the same price as I would have had to of paid for just new tires in a 20" wheel. I'd rather have more rubber than wheel anyway, especially when I get off the payment. The Duratracs look really good, although with a 12.5" wide tire and a -12 offset on the wheel, they stick out of the fender well about a full inch or so, maybe a little more; was to be expected though... gives me a reason to get some painted fender flares now .
The guy at the tire place came and got me before he stated, and told me he wasn't sure that the 35" were going to fit. I told him they damn well better, b/c I just paid a *hit ton of $$$ to get this leveling kit and have it put on + an alignment. Not to mention Readylift guarantees that with the kit 35" mudding tires will fit, no problem. So, we mounted one real quick and stuck it on the front... cleared by 1/2 to 3/4 of a inch at the narrowest spot! If these had been true 35" tires instead of 315/70/17, then it would have been close for sure, so you might want to keep that in mind... I would think a true 35" "highway" tire would probably fit no problem though.
Anyway, I have noticed that it does take a bit more power to get these babies going though. I can't just punch it and take off like a rocket like I used to, but then again I knew this going in... there's a trade off less speed and acceleration for bigger, aggressive all-terrain tires. Oh, by the way I have a 3:92 rear end. So if you have the 3:55, you might want to think about just staying with a 33" tire, which you can do without a lift if you want.

All in All I'm very pleased. I knew i would be trading off some things for others; silence in the cab for deeeeeepppp rumble, speed and acceleration for 35" aggressive tires. My future plans over the next few months include: superchips re-programmer, spray-in bed liner, change all fluids to Royal Purple, N-fab nerf bars, grille guard w/ piaa lights, remote start, and last but not least maybe by the first part of next year, a ram air hood w/ box.

If you have any other questions, I'll try to answer to the best of my ability... I'm off to go take some pics.

Here are a few pics. Sorry, it was already dark.

This is the front tire turned all the way in (about the space of the tape measure between the tire and the well wall).

This is the narrowest I could get the tire to the well wall (besides turning it all the way).

How far they stick out with a -12 offset wheel.

that looks great! I will be doing a 2" front lift this fall. Now you need fender flares to save your paint.

Do you have any shuddering in 4x4 mode when starting from a stand still?
