sounds like i need to shim it, huh?
Shims won't help that. The cover is able to move up and down at the hinge points on the side of the hinge where the latch isn't. If you ever try stuffing too much stuff under it you will see what I mean - cover will be popped up.

Only way to fix that issue would be a design change that locked each latch to the rail so that it couldn't slide forward to back at all.

Also if you have that dumb plastic emergency release pull, that will bounce back and forth against the tailgate. I wound up cutting it off, but you have to be carefull not to cut the cable.

I wouldn't trade mine for a normal hard cover. Pretty handy to be able to fold it out of the way when I need to put in tall stuff, and it works with my bed rack.

can anyone post a pic of how you lock the cover in the folded up position? I had mine folded up and it ate through the weather seal where the 3 panels rest on in one short trip to the dump.

They show the cover being propped up against the rear window with the two arms on the rails locked into place on the back of the panel. I haven't had the need to fold mine up yet but this doesn't sound good. There are loads of videos on youtube or BakFlips web site that show the panels locked in the folded position. I think the main purpose is to keep the panels from falling back down as they gain most of the support from leaning against the rear window.

Are the top of your bed rails abrasive? It would be informative if you could post a pic of the damage.

While the F1 is probably the best cover out there, it's far from perfect. It's reasonably watertight, doesn't rattle, and definitely helps with gas mileage. Unfortunately, it severely limits what you can put in the bed. Between the folded-up sections in the front and the arms on the sides, it's tough to put anything large in there. And forget leaning something heavy against the bed sides, it'll destroy the rails.

I love the thing, but I'll take it off the next time I help someone move. It's downright embarrassing not being able to use 30% of the bed.
