Default New ram owner!

I had a 2005 Chevy Colorado which I loved but she was becoming a mechanical nightmare as of late so it was time for her to go. Luckily it was paid off I got 10k for her. I had all chevy products before and seemed to have problems with all 3. I had been eyeing the ram for a long time and I needed a bigger vehicle also. It didn't make sense to get a mid sized vehicle since they seem to be going out of production as well by chevy, dodge and ford (though I would never get a ford.) So, I bought a 2010 Ram 1500 with the 5.7L Hemi and got a great deal on it! Its black with the pearl coat (i guess this is the new name for metallic) and I got a the tow package, window tint, step bars, spray in liner, a truxedo bed cover and a 6 year refundable warranty. Hopefully Hemrietta will last me a long time!

MSRP was 35.5 but, the dealership I went to charges invoice so I started at 31,357. Before what I added on, it would have been an OTD of 16450 plus 2275 Wa state tax @ 8.9% (yes ouch) so, 18725 for a Wa resident.

I added on step side bars, spray in liner and a bed cover (Truxedo). All of that came to 1400. Then I got a 6 year warranty, which was 2215. If I don't use the 6 year I get that 2215 back at the end of the warranty time in full. All total, I was OTD for 22345 with a 6.67 percentage rate (which is a much much lower percentage rate then I expected.)

Welcome to the forum, sounds like a really good deal. You'll love the Hemi compared to your Colorado. I got a buddy with a Colorado 4x4 who brought it over for me to install a level kit on. I was not impressed with it.

Same as you, I came off of two Chevy trucks that had a lot of nagging problems, nothing like "leave you on the side of the road" major, but lots of issues none-the-less. Had a Furd that dropped a piston with 14k miles on it, so I'm with you there too.

Have had two Rams now, a '98 RCSB 5.9 4x4 and my current '04 QCSB Hemi 4x4, both purchased new. Worst problem I've had with either one of them was a blown shock.

The power was decent on my colly except in the low end but, its power was only decent because I added a cat back exhuast, gutted the precat, added a cai, and deleted everything from the air box to the throttle body and replaced it with one smooth pipe. Stock was a lot less powerful. The in line 5 was very sluggish off the line and its hualing just isn't there for what I would like in a truck in both towing weight and bed capacity. Now that I've been in a full size truck, I also realize how cramped the interior was too. Its construction was kind of crap for an offroad package as well. The first time I took it offroad all of the underside protection crap came off because it was all plastic. I also had chips in the paint all over the damn thing and not in spots you would normally find chips at.

For maintenance in the last 12 months I've had a cracked u bolt, a cracked in half transfer case adapter, warped front brake rotors, transmission epc go out, left side wheel hub replaced due to bad abs and, when I traded it in, it again had a bad left side abs and this time it had wheelspeed sensor issues on that side which it didn't have the first abs sensor problem for some reason. The only reason I had been able to afford to fix all that before is that I was doing the work myself at my base auto hobby shop, but my medical problems aren't getting any better and I just don't have the energy to fix some of this stuff (it took me 5 hours to do the left side wheel hub replacement and you HAVE to take it off to fix the abs sensor.) I also still needed to replace 2 warped wheels and my drivers side seat had some springs in the back rest part that were starting to come loose.

The colly has turned me off to doing anything but oil changes and tire changes for the foreseeable future and I've doing aftermarket tuning and my own maintenance on all of my past vehicles if thats any indication.

Well as far as dependablilty the ram is top notch in book over chevy and ford. my only problem with mine is I cant keep her clean enough for my liking. Makes me feel good when a chevy or ford guy converts over to dodge

I live on a dirt road that they occasionally oil so mine is always dirty and, it seems that it rains mud around here also so I get dirt all over it from that also. As for the inside, as long as I can keep my wife from driving it then the inside should stay clean but she has her own vehicle to leave trash in so that shouldn't be a problem.
