Default Good News for 2WD 4th gen Ram owners wanting to run 35" Tires

Some one finally did it. A leveling kit that will allow 2wd 4th gen Rams to run 35" tires. Sorta........... don't get too excited just yet. Here is what I know.

Ready Lift seems to have released a new 2.25" from 1.5" rear leveling kit. This is pretty cool and its a bit bigger then the only other leveling kit option offered by DayStar. DayStar $40, Ready Lift $499.99. Ouch! They seem to be well aware they are the only solution around unless you want to go body or full on suspension lift.

Ready Lift claims that you can run a 35" tire with this kit. This got me a bit excited and I almost pulled the plug on the 3" body lift I have scheduled to be installed. I was pretty excited about finding this. This is a way less intrusive and a far less complicated solution then the body lift and would allow for a 35" tire.

Ok, now for the reality check. CST has a 4" spindle lift and they claim you cant run larger then a 33" tire. Performance accessories has a 3" body lift with 2" spacers for a total of 5 " of lift and they claim you can run a 35" tire. So how in the world can you stuff a 35" tire under a truck with this 2.25" front 1.5" rear leveling kit.

So I called to find out the specs on the wheel and tire that you could run and I was sorta disappointed. In order to run a 35" tire with this kit on a 20" wheel, you have to run a 20 x 9" wheel with a 5" backspace or zero offset. You also need to run a narrow tire, they said 11" is what they have tested. So you would need to run something like a 275/65R20. Even at that size its gonna look to me like the tire is stuffed under the fender. If my calculations are right thats about 1" larger then what came stock on my truck. a lot of money for 1".

Now the big problem I found very quickly is that your wheel selection on that specific of a wheel is pretty minimal. I only found one wheel I would even consider putting on my truck and even then I was all not thrilled with the wheel. So your wheel and even tire selection becomes pretty limited in order to run a 35" tall tire with this setup.

Some may have different taste then me and this may be the perfect solution for them. I don't believe this is all that bad, you may be able to play with 8.5" wide wheels, 18" wheels and different tire sizes to achieve the look you want. But hopes of running a 20x9 wheel with a 35" x 12.50" tire I'm afraid are out the window.

In any case I thought I would share my discovery, findings and thoughts on the new kit. I'm sure we will be seeing some cool new 2WD truck pics soon.

I saw that kit also, I love the shock spacers,( its about time) just worry it will hit the UCA........those shock spacers can be used for other trucks also, the front coil spacers will level it, but that rear spacer is going to put the rake back in it, I personally dont like the rake on a lift. but that is a cool kit.
