Pretty upset with new truck
My last truck was a 2006ram 1500 it's a solid truck like a truck should be! This new truck must be made in a Toyota plant! The metal is soooo thin! I noticed a ding in my rear quarter right on the wheel well line. I kind of blew it off because I'm going to add flares. Well today iinstalled a spacer kit. I leaned on the front fender and after I was done I clean up and saw a dent slash wave in the paint. I've also noticed that the doors are much lighter then the last gen truck. This really sucks because I love everything else about this truck. So if your in a parking lot make sure you park far away from everyone else!
I think my truck got a ding just from me looking at it! Sucks but I too am one of the BFE parkers as I'm trying hard to keep any more dings from happening.
No, she knows how I feel about my truck.
I kept getting these very fine hair line scratches on it. Thought maybe it was the car wash. However they were only on the drivers side towards the tail light. Caught her dragging her purse across my truck as she cut the corner to exit the garage :|

I will agree, although I love the truck the paint and body are less then top quality. I had a chunk of excess metal painted on the inside of one of my doors. Kinda like a sharp flap of metal they never sanded down. I picked at it and if broke off and now I have a spot that has no paint at on it inside my door.
Hate to tell you dude, but the sheet metal was just as thin in the late 3rd gens as it is in the 4th gens. Chrysler along with the rest of the automakers have been slowly but surely thinning them up over the years. Look at the door skin thickness on an 02 3rd gen and an 08 3rd gen. Thank goodness they had the sense to keep the bed sheet metal the same.

The truck weights of 5,000 pounds now (4x4 quad). I would hate to think what it would have been if it was build like they were in the 60's. They are trying to squeek out any weight to help mpg. With the govt set to increase the mpg standards that must be met, it will be interesting to see how well they will be built.
Many things have been improved over the years. Others not so much.
My 98 Dak was a super solid body. Closing the driver's door sounded like a Mercedes when I sold it 10 years later.
My 05 Dak was much more comfortable, economical and powerful but closing the front door sounded tinny.
My 09 Ram is absolutely awesome in most every category except for interior ergonomics and sheet metal "dentability" but I suspect that the excellent economy is a result of weight savings that had to come from somewhere...and sheet metal integrity was sacrificed.
