Default pulled the spark plugs at 30K = waste of 3 hours

I pull all the plugs and installed the stock NGK's(LZFR5C-11) at 30K miles as recommended. The spark plug gaps on all 16 plugs pulled from the vehicle ranged from .045"-.047".

The new plugs I purchased from the dealership, the plug gap ranged from .042" -.065". So I reset the gap to .040"

I pulled the control plans and torques from Saltillo,Mexico and it shows the electrode gap is 1mm(.040") with 18Nm +/-3 torque on the plug. The was also a note on the torque sheet that says not to exceed 21Nm due to a "Torque critical tapered design of the spark plug".

I thought I would share the data so others can compare their plugs to mine.

So why was it a waste if you gap is supposed to be .040 and yours were all off? I am worried since we have this thing for a year and half and only 11000km which is like 6 or 7000 miles, Now at this rate it will tak4 or 5 years before I need plugs, what about them rusting in place or does the factory put some antiseize?

Manual says the gap is supposed to be .043
LZFR5C–11 (Gap 0.043 in [1.09 mm])

I just bought my truck yesterday and read through the manual to get all the ins and outs of everything. Make sure you read the specs in the back of the manual. For example, the 4.7L has different gap spaces than the Hemi. Also, the 8 plugs on the upper bank are gapped at 0.039, and the lower bank at 0.051.

When I replace my plugs, I'll be installing the E3 plugs that you see used on Horsepower and Muscle Car tv series. A little more horsepower and mpg with a good full spark burn. http://www.e3sparkplugs.com/

BigBlueEdge: If you read this, please let me know what side steps that you have. I need to order a set for my truck and I like the looks of yours.

Thanks to everyone for all the great posts. Tons of good information out there. The backup camera posts will be very helpful when I add one for my truck.

I would stay away from E3 plugs. A guy here installed them and had issues. The check engine light came on and seems like there was something else.

That is what I have heard from several different sources that if you use anything that is not almost exactly comparable to the stock plug and are not gapped correctly then it starts throwing codes and knocking, various other things including difficulty starting.

My steps are the Mopar factory originals. I ordered them with the truck. You can get them from your dealer or, probably, any on-line place that sells Mopar accessories.
