Default 2010 Ram DVD headrest...?

Hi -

I searched the forums but could not find anything.

I've got a 2010 Ram 2500 Mega Diesel - just installed the AllGig and looking to get some rear displays...

I've got the RER radio - AllGig works like a champ - video in motion, etc... I'm looking to buy the A/V harness to pump the DVD to some monitors for the kids in the back.

I've got a Laramie with tan leather - considering headrest monitors - do NOT want the overhead monitor.

Anyone have any ideas? Checked eBay and everything is grey...

Thanks in advance...

You said "kids" so running them off the mygig means they will have to watch the same thing. This is sometimes a problem with my girls.

Might want to check into headrest DVD players that can play independently or combined.

I installed a set made by Invision. Great quality and they matched thee seats perfect! I have tan leather too. I can feed the DVD from the front or they can each watch something different since they have DVD players in them too. They typically sell through dealers. You can contact them directly and they will tell you where to get them. I lucked out and got mine off ebay from a dealer that was shutting down. Here is the link. I have pics posted there to, second page. Also stay away from the cheap crap on Ebay, I tried them and they sucked, badly!!

the MyGig to pull something that the rear passengers can control off. There is a video you can tap but a number of things need to be activated on the head in order to get the control features on. I ordered my truck w/o the factory screen because I didn't want to pay for the SiriusTV stuff(and there are Dodge units you can buy as accessories for installation). I installed the 9" roof display because it integrates with the head unit. There were a number of challenges on my install(most of which were caused by Dodge's wiring changes between the '09 and '10 models - this accessory was wired with the '09 cabin harness which didn't have the iPod adapter or camera by default) and once I figured out the pinout diffs between the two it all came alive.

This setup is great because it has two active channels and both interface with the MyGig ie daughter can watch/control a movie on CH1, son can control/listen to music on the HDD and I can listen to the iPod. Very cool.

Cool! Thanks for the info... and THANKS for the pics!

I'm more inclined to get the headrest monitors that play their own DVD's and/or can pump from the myGig.

@Drober30: We have 3 kids - having the flexibility to play separate movies with wireless headphones is probably the best answer.

With 3 kids, anyone know if two can listen to one show - while the other listens to another?

This is not our main vehicle - just a puller for an RV and all-around workhorse... so, while pulling, Mom & Dad (the wife and I) need their "quiet space" while the kids watch their stuff.

@Vrunner - Thanks for the props... The bed is the regular short bed on a Mega Chassis.

Cheers,
Herk

Default Herk, yes you can do that(on mine anyway). Notice the

Channel #1 and Channel #2 sections on the video screen... they correspond to the two source channels that are broadcast over the IR/headphones in the cabin. Each headphone has a channel selector on it so the rear passengers can listen to either source. The remote has a channel selector as well to control each of the two sources ie daughter can listen to and control the Sirius tuner on Channel #1(shows a small bar on the bottom of the screen for changes if there is a movie playing on the other channel) and my son can watch a movie on Channel #2. You can control what source is on each channel from the front MyGig as well... its the same dual setup they put in the vans with the exception that the Mopar Accessories screen/controller does not come with a 2nd DVD drive. It does come with a set of RCA inputs that you can plug into the rear of the console for iPod/DVD/Playstation/etc... another source for selection.

You'd need a 3rd set of headphones(comes with 2 plus remote) but you could do that easily on this one. Obviously on mine only one movie can be viewed at a time with the single screen. I looked at the Mopar dual headrest setup but one of the big things for me was control of the rear sources from the front and I don't believe the dual setup(Mopar's anyway) had that.
