1/2 ton RE Sag - Ram vs others
I went from a 1/2 ton GMC to the 1/2 ton Ram. From my perspective, the Ram rear suspension is beefier than the GMC, front and back.
The sag on the GMC was so bad that I went to a spring shop and had them add a leaf. The owner told me that around 2000, GMC/Chevy removed a leaf from the 1/2 tons. Even after having the leaf added, the sag was not better than the Ram. With my current setup, the weight distribution hitch made the biggest difference in my mind. I also have the ride rites, and they are nice to have for leveling the ride.
Since this is my first Ram, I can't compare to the previous models but they were probably beefier than the Gen4 - thus the complaints.
Any Ford owners out there that can talk about their 1/2 ton rear end suspensions?
I will go out today and count leafs in the parking lots to see how the others compare. I did notice that the GMC/Chevy HDs have lots of leafs on the back to go with the bigger axle.
Another thing, when you load up the truck - you may need to go to load range E tires.

I had a 2007 F150 Crew Cab 4x4 before my Hemi Ram. The F150 could tow more and hual more then my newer Ram but it also was gutless and stiff on the road. I tow the same 5500lbs boat/trailer with both trucks and they both sagged about the same. Partly because my trailer is double axle and balanced pretty good. I just went to count my leaf springs and darn it someone stole 'em and left me with this cool multi link suspension.......
