Default blue smoke?

The other day I remote started my 2010 with the 5.7 and noticed a small puff of blue smoke out the exhaust pipes at startup. Is this normal sometimes? I am only ready for my second oil change with about 6500 miles. Is this still "break-in" behavior?

Thanks - Ed

I wouldn't be too concerned if it happens when you first start it, but if it still blows smoke when it is warm then I would look into it.

Sometimes a little oil seeps past the valve seals when it sits...at least that's what I was told when my '06 Hemi did that.

Default Blue smoke is not normal

Blue smoke means burning oil, but I think it should be not so blue, mostly white and thick. I had a GMC truck that started smoking at start up at around 60k miles (right after the warranty expired). I kept the truck for another 100K miles without problems.

Having said that, a new truck under warranty should be fixed.

This must be fairly common with these trucks since theres been several posts on here with the same issue. Although mine has 35k and I haven't noticed it yet

Both my Ford F-150's did that at start up at exactly 60,000 miles. The dealership said that it was normal unless it happens steady while driving.

If the engine was idling in "Eco" mode when last shut off, would there not be "wet" (with oil) cylinders that weren't firing?
Maybe this is the cause of the blue smoke.

Can the engine idle in ECO mode? I don't have ECO in my 2500, but in my 08 1500 the MDS would not turn on in idle. Isn't ECO the same as MDS?

It is, and my 2010 will not idle in ECO.
