Default Trailer brake controler install pics

Ok so I have the 2010 CC with a build date on 9/09 and only have one plug. I was looking at an after market install in the same spot. I would prefer a factory install but dont feel comfortable splicing wires. Does anybody have pics of their aftermarket controler in the cubby. Thanks

OK here is the story,
09-----------
we are not able YET to have the controller integrated into the EVIC, meaning the controls on the steering wheel will adjust it, and the read out will be in the EVIC, also you have to look under the dash near the emergency brake for the PLUGS, the infamous plugs, I only have one plug on my 09, so i will have to get a controller and either hard wire in, or get a newer controller and a harness adapter and plug it in, or an older controller and wire it in, it will still work lights ,brakes and all, BUT ,no read out in the display area of the EVIC , if that doesnt bother you, hook em up.......the factory OEM one can be hooked up to the 09 but no EVIC readout

2010
you guys are lucky, ,you still have to look under the dash in the same spot, most of you will have 2 connectors to plug into, some will only have 1 even with a 2010, if you have 2 connectors you buy a newer controller , with the accelerometer in it and it will just plug in, everything will work brakes lights and all,but no read out on the dash EVIC, you have to go to the dealer if you want that, but it is worth it, they will flash it and put it in the trucks computer, as an option, thereby satisfying, the CAN BUS, if you have only 1 connector on a 2010 you have to find the wires that the connector was SUPPOSED to be made on a little farther up the harness and splice into them, so the easiest is 2010 with 2 connectors for right now untill more comes out on this

What can be adjusted from the steering wheel controls with the factory TBC? I thought it was just a readout?

I will never be able to do it from there, but i was told from a 2010 that he can adjust the sensitivity of the brakes, like in the old days, or like I do , buy turning a thumbwheel, he can do it from his steering wheel, other than that and a few things it works good.

Same here... I have a +/- on the control unit that will adjust the readout on the BC and EVIC. I'll have to try to put it directly into trailer brake mode and try the steering wheel buttons and see if it works??? Would be too cool if it did.

Well... bored at work so ran out and checked. No controls on the sterring wheel to adjust level. Went to system info and toggled to trailer bc. Even gave the raido controls a shot... nope there too.

It does not work with an 09. The correct software is not present so it does not light up. It does work partially though. Been there, done that months ago. Not second hand info.

The only thing the EVIC does on the 2010 is relay messages. The buttons on the steering wheel do nothing.

Supposably they are coming out with a kit for those missing the wiring. My guess is that is just a regular old controller that fits the cubby. But when is anyone's guess.

Got tired of waiting and did this with mine.

Well that looks pretty good if you can't go OEM. Did you make that silver surround out of something or did it come like that?

Just a piece of plastic trimmed to fit painted silver. Not exactly what I was after but close enough.
