Well I am cheap. I have a friend that does powder coating and will probably have him strip them down and powder coat them black. Just don't know what that will look like on a Deep water blue Sport with the chrome wheel covers and chrome grille.

Whatever its called.....recall, TSB, RRT, replacement policy, warranty......my service manager said they have been advised by Dodge that theres an impending "recall" (to make it not such a process to have to wait until the bumper is a total disaster before they will replace it) in the works because of the large volume of chrome bumpers with defects (rust, staining etc.) and also that theres possibly another regarding the upper bolts that secure the front bumper for rusting prematurely and causing rust staining running down the front of the bumper.....
I understand what you are saying, but there is still a difference between a recall and a TSB or RRT, which is why there are different terms. They are not interchangeable. A recall is for safety related items ONLY. TSB's and RRT's are what would pertain to the side steps, if Chrysler decided to do something about it. Recalls require that the automaker contact you by mail to inform you to bring your vehicle in for service. TSB's and RRT's are issued to document known quality and customer satisfaction related problems and to give a detailed process for the dealer to follow in addressing it.

They're crap boards and I've put in for a quote to sandblast/powdercoat them. Started pitting and now peeling as well. One year warranty.

Yeah mine have started peeling by the step pads as well. I'm over a year, so the warranty won't cover mine, but I've been wanting to replace them anyway. I think they're kinda flimsy. They always give and squeek when I step on them and I'm only 170lbs. Thinking of going with the smitty sidesteps.

cheap chrome is cheap chrome. I'm sure Mopar cut a deal for those from some company in China for as cheap as they could get them.

I've purchased a couple of sets of cheap nerfs over the years and had problems with every one of them from pitting to flaking to rusting to step pads flying off on the highway.

All I'll buy is Westin now and in stainless steel...
