Nice Mod
I am stealing this mod from a dude on another forum, he has the mopar running tubes like I do, he cut 1 inch off the part that the tube is on drilled a new hole for the bolt 1 1/8th inches towards the truck from the middle of the hole that is left and it brings the tube closer to the truck and looks awesome. I don't know if this is ok but look here http://www.ramtruckforums.com/forums...ead.php?t=4167
that is a pretty cool mod. one reason why i havent bought steps is because i haven't found a step that was next to the body, now i can see with a couple more holes that it can be done. good call on the post.
Same here, but I've been itching for some bad. Now maybe I'll pull the trigger. Do you think the factory non-chrome rails can be color matched?
When I saw this I got excited and went outside and thought I may want to do this, now I am not sure.
This is what I did. I took off one of the steps and left the brackets on the truck. I slid the step towards the truck and put on one of the bolts in the new position the step would end up in. I then compared the looks to the unmodified side and I have to say it looks way better. Next I tried the step in and step off test but was not happy with the step off. Not much there for me to step on, especially if it is wet or slippery. The exit angle doesn't give much to step on. Stepping in is not too bad.
So, I'm going to sleep on it for now. It looks better, but I'm not there yet.
