Observed fuel mileage on the 5.7 Hemi
So those that have this engine, with the Crew cab and 4x4, what have you observed as your usual fuel mileage?
I'm thinking of moving to a bigger truck and just wondering what to expect from moving from a 4.7L to the 5.7L, besides way more power.

In these summer months, over 5500 miles, I'm seeing 14.5-17.2, generally 15.5 tank after tank. This is with a mixture of suburb and short highway driving, no towing, no long road trips. Its actually a little better than my dad's '09 Chevy 5.3 and is quite acceptable to me.
Where it really shines is on rural 2-lane driving and is worlds better on the highway than my '05 as it is much more aerodynamic. Plus, the MDS is well programmed from the factory IMO.

Prior to the larger tires I was getting about 13.5-14 around town and 19 on the interstate. I have the 3.92 gears and drive like I am on my way to a fire. I have not had the larger tires on long enough to figure out what the real difference is. Also this is all computer calculated, no hand calculation.

I have a quad cab hemi 4x4 with 3.92 gears. On a trip this past weekend mostly 2 lane highways driving 60 to 65 with some 70 and several small towns to pass through, my EVIC showed 20.8. I used a calculator and 262 miles divided by 12.6 gal. was 20.79. Now thats pretty acurate. By the way I took the same trip in my tundra 2 yeaars ago and got 21.5. It was 2wd so the milage is pretty comparable in the two.
cowboy, how do you know you used 12.6 gallons? I assume that you started with a full tank and that you filled her up again after the trip, having to put in 12.6 gallons? Questionable whether or not that is an accurate way of measuring the fuel used?
