Default Some interior updates

I did a few things to my console. Painted the chrome trim flat black to combat the glare it put off, new shift handle. Used that empty hole under the vent to mount my TomTom car kit and put my old iPhone in there, now I can use that App for navi. Use the Motormouth II by Scosche in the Aux port to stream bluetooth audio from the iPod. Also use the iPod RF remote by Scosche to control the unit from my steering wheel. The setup works pretty good.

Just wondering how you mounted the car kit in the hole under the vent. Is there access to a bolt or something in there? How did you fasten it in there? Nice clean install!

I took measurments of the inside of the hole, cut a wood block, covered it with speaker box carpet and screwed the mount to the block and slid it in the hole. Is it just me, or did all that sound dirty??

How did you remove the chrome trim and what paint did you use? I want to do the same to mine, the glare is a pita even with shades...

Thanks for painting that trim ring.
I was wondering what it would look like if I were to flat it out. I was actually thinking of just putting it in the sand blaster and using a very soft abrasive to rough it up a bit. Just another awesome job by the designers. Don't ask us if chrome would reflect sunlight. You would actually have to go to design school to learn about that......Duh!

Nice mods. I'd be interested in hearing a how-to about removal and painting the trim ring.
