Default MyGig being replace-music saveable?

Hello all. I'm new here. Monday I am having my radio replaced. The old one occasionally locks up. Anyways, I was wondering if the music that I have loaded into the hard drive can be recovered by the dealer and loaded onto the new radio. The service manager wasn't too convincing. Is there a way that I can save it? I'm not too technical when it comes to computers. Thanks for your input.

No it wont unless they use the same hard drive and if they do then you will probably have the same problems you had originally. I think you can back up what you have, check your mygig manual.

From what I understood the dealer could load from old then re-install on a new. I may be wrong but thought this was possible on my chrysler 300 mygig. And would only think it can still be done.

from mygig site
This must be done by a dealer using the Star Scan tool to get into the radio, then to "Miscellaneous", then to "Service mode". An external hard drive, designated as a “Mass storage Device” is hooked up to the USB port. Once connected, the “Manage my Files” screen should show up which confirms that the drive has been recognized. The files on the radio are not deleted until after the process is complete, so if there are issues during the transfer the process can be started over. If the files are copied to a new radio, the new radio must be put through a sleep cycle to access the new files. Depending on the amount of files on the MyGIG hard drive, copying them can take several hours.
