A Beauty No Longer (2010 1500 Wreck)
Well to get the process started it seems we need to pick a body shop to have the first inspection done (thankfully I don't have much experience in this). What are y'alls thoughts on body shops or collision repair at a dealership? It would seem to me that a dealership will have easy access to Dodge hardware and so would not bother looking for some 3rd party body panels, or doors etc to fix it. I talked with my dealership and they said that none of their work would void any warranties, and all their work is covered by a life time warranty. I hear all these horror stories about dealerships, but I hear just as many about all the other body shops out there... I know each dealership will be different, but do you guys have any experience with dealership work of this kind?
I hope you get your truck fixed properly if that is the route or you get a new truck if it goes that way as long as your are satisfied nothing worse driving around something you are not sure if it is fixed properly or not.
We got our Avenger fixed after getting hit in a parking lot and for a few weeks it would creak when you take off from a start, took it to body shop, they could not replicate the problem but strangely enough it does not make that sound anymore. Makes me wonder but well it has been reported as an issue, I think they did a quick weld of something personally because it had that smell of welding when we picked it up, maybe they did not want to say....my insurance guarantees repairs for life of vehicle ...as long a I have it so I am not worried. My dealer has an excellent body shop, none of this taping off door handles, things like that, they strip the door down so there is no rust issue later to fight about and it get fixed properly that way, not paint chipping off. Even emblems get removed and retaped or left off if you so choose. You can save money if you agree to a used part to save money insurance works with you for instance a new headlight assembly was over 300 for Avenger, they found a used one like new for 150, I have to agree which I did....it all guaranteed for life still so who cares, came off a car that the other side was a totalled mess, but the car has less mileage than mine so really the part is newer.

Too much to quote on here, but here goes.
First off he got punched in the passenger side door. His wife was in the passenger seat. It is a well known fact that many injuries form car accidents are not discovered until later. Adrenaline has taken over your body so your pain is camouflaged by the adrenaline. Hence the sprained or hurt back days after an accident. It isn't people like me that make your premiums rise. It is people like the woman that did the U-Turn into the side of his truck. I am 51 years old and have never filed an accident claim with my Insurance company of 35 years. He didn't do anything wrong. Why should he be doing ANYTHING. That persons insurance company should. His insurance company should. They do send out mobile assessors/adjusters ya know. He admitted that the truck was not driving straight from being hit in the front passenger side wheel. So if he did get into another accident from his ball joint breaking or some other suspension issue, after just being in another accident and driving the vehicle....Then HE would be at fault and he would be screwed. (So driving the truck around from shop to shop being a bad idea is a no-brainer.) Not the Cops. He had a brand new truck with around 3500 miles on it. If the woman had not made that u turn into him he would still be driving a new truck. He should still be driving a new truck. But I tell ya what. Just sit back, do all the leg work, have the insurance companies laughing their asses off at his expense, and get a fixed up, Carfaxed truck, back that he just won't be happy with. I mean heck, alls good right?
