I hope this isn’t tread jacking but here goes. What's the difference between an RER and REN radio? I have what I imagine is the most basic radio in my TRX. It does have uconnect buttons across the top but they are inactive. I'm assuming I could hook up an iPod interface of some kind because the dials on the radio face seem to indicate I could control the iPod with the truck radio. Any thoughts on what interface/cables I'd need to hook up?

Thanks

RER is the whole enchilada, Nav,mygig, bluetooth, sirius, dvd, uconnect, REN most likely has all but uconnect and could have sirius or not

Been through this whole issue already with my 5th gen 30gb from 06, initially it would do the initiat comm please wait when started truck after sitting, and started off doing it once and a while, then all the time, then it started cutting out while driving, and of course I would unplug and re-plug and it would work. I then had an issue where one side of the speakers stopped working and I isolated the problem to the IPOD harness, sent it back under warranty and when I got it back the IPOD died. I believe my issue was the battery in the IPOD slowly going bad, I since replaced the battery myself and the unit works perfect, it still does the init. comm. once in a while but thats only when the battery is to low and its charging, it seems sometimes the unit does not sleep and runs the battery low, to fix this I just unplug when the truck sits at work or over night. If you have an older unit over 3-4 years the battery needs checking, good thing about my IPOD model is that they are cheap to fix yourself and take apart versus the newer ones that you have to have sent away due the locks on them. Hope this helps.
