TPMS Accurracy
How accurate is the TPMS on our trucks. This morning I went out to check the tire pressure manually. I got an average reading of 34 lbs. However, the TPMS said my tires were at 43 lbs. Took a 100 mile trip, at the end the TPMS said 3 tires at 44 lbs. and one at 45 lbs. Manually I got about 38 lbs. on the 4 tires. I'm running 10 ply Hankooks. So...Do I trust the TPMS or the guage?? If the TPMS is saying a pressure of 43 lbs. and I let out some air how long will it take for the TPMS to reflect the change?
I would check your manual guage against another manual gauge. Only then, if they agreed, would I suspect the TPMS. If your TPMS is indeed that far off I take it back to the dealer to see what is going on. I have checked two gauges against my TPMS and they were within 1-2 psi of each other - close enough.
They will tell you it's the tires. They will say that the tpms is only set up for a certain class tire, maybe they will sell you some valves at 60 bucks each that will work. Do they not check the airpressure when you get an oil change. That is when I check my tires other than if they look low. Man we need a bell or light to tell us when to put air in our tires, then the same for an oil change, the dealer calls every 3 months to remind me anyway...another useless tool on the truck and all cars for that matter, now the light will come on or is it a different light if you are low on oil and we will ignore it or reset it and then reset it again at the oil change. We need lights up and down the side on the mirrors to be able to change lanes and well puddle light someone tell me what that means I have been afraid to ask? Now we need a more complicated electrical system then our houses have. We are such gadget freaks, I do not disclude myself from this, I had to get lock pick update to nav get not only a rearview cam but a front view came too, and more but I am just trying to say it's not safe to just rely on these electronic controls.
I was watching a commercial for Mercedes where the car stops itself if you miss the cue, what about all those people behind you just following too close sure you will make the stop but will that 1999 Van with 12 passengers going to a game. I would like to get rid of the fly by wire system also, with hand controls there is a bit of a delay and the electronic deal makes the delay seem even longer and it's like you don't feel the car/truck with hand controls to start with but unless someone comes out with a system that will change this system because I would like someone to blame if it fails LOL no I just don't have the ability, I probably could if not for this wheel chair kinda hard to work under the hood.I have a cradle type mess deal I was wondering if maybe i get into the with my face down and then use a cherry picker and hover over the engine LOL won't be good for tight bolts but if I use power tools I might just be able to do it. LOL

They are lights on the bottom of the mirror that light up the area around the driver and passenger doors. So when you pull into a dark parking spot you can see the "puddle" before you step into it!
Still running stock tires and no issues with the TPMS guage matching the hand held. Of note, the hand held guage I use is a nicer manual gauge. I have noted that when I first get in the truck after a large temperature drop from the prior day that the TPMS will take a couple hundred feet to update or accurately reflect the PSI.
