So those of you running N2 in your tires, how do you get all the oxygen out before filing with N2?

They way I've seen it done is they fill it up with air just enough to seat the bead and then fill up the rest with nitrogen. It's not completely filled with nitrogen from what I can see/tell. I only saw them put about 15 psi of nitrogen in my tires.

I got mine done at the dealer and they have a machine that they hook up to all of your tires and it sucks out all the air then they procede to fill with the Nitrogen. Those of you who don't see a difference probably didn't have all of the air sucked out of your tires. I live in Alberta Canada where it is not unusual for temperatures to hit -40 Celcius. Like I said in my previous post I have gone over a year without having to put air in my tires where as with previous vehicles with just plain air in them I found that I was constantly having to top them up with the drastic changes in temperature. So IMO it is well worth it.

That's exactly why they use it in acft tires. It's normally -55 degrees F up at 35K ft in altitude and then they park on 125 degree tarmack. You won't notice any ride difference, it just won't leak down like "air" does.

lol When I bought my truck they tried to charge me $299 for having nitrogen in the tires! saying it was an extra charge. To say the least I didnt pay for it and they magically was able to remove that charge.

Wink

if oxygen leaks out of the tires over time and we continue to re-fill the tires with atmospheric air, wont we all eventually have nitrogen filled tires?

I have helium in mine. I float right over the potholes. You should see what it does in mud.
I'm thinking of switching to nitrogen for the winter months, I don't want to float on the snow and ice.

Only 2.5 I'm getting like 6 MPG's. And the speed gain is nuts, I think the wheels spin faster cause they are lighter.
