so babying the hell out of the truck im up to 15mpg but its to the point of being crazy but i only have 50miles on the tank so far and its only the computer figure and i dont thing that most people drive these trucks that crazy to get the mpg they are claiming. also i did change where i was getting my gas to see if that has anything to do with it. also it seems to me that im starting to decrease my average as it dipped down to 14.5 when i was on the hwy. doing 55-60 it seems that the only time the eco light/mds is kicking in is on the down hills or coasting. the real time mpg gauge never seems to want to get above 14-15mpg and regular dips down to 10mpg. is this normal. and in not gassing on it if i dont keep that much pressure on the gas i start to lose speed. any ideas? where does everyones else mpg gauge real when the mds kick out. and please no heavy right foot replies as im well aware of this and am paying very important attention to it.

Pedro think about this...my truck has the 20's on it which makes my gear even less,(less RPM) on the highway alone, fill up here and drive to Dallas, on 35, there are not many stops or turns, my EVIC always has 500/550 or more miles when I fill up, I dont really baby it, I have 2 boys and a wife that are with me , just drive normal about 65/70 not 75/85 , I got incredible mileage all the time, that is why I lifted it, I knew I would lose some but still does WAY better than my 99 gets.......
When these first came out I posted my MPG, it was shot down, then Dodge came out and posted you can get 20 MPG then it was a little better, then Dodge came out and restated that you could get up to 21 MPG ,and now a few are listening, mine is not a drag racer and not a heavy puller, but for what I bought it for it is perfect, gas mileage and pulls our travel trailer
Hammer has it all summed up , and the original poster ,I think has something not right with his, I worked at the Dealer for 17 years, and I saw MANY vehicles that came in to me for BAD MILEAGE, including a Dually 454 , some had bad mileage and needed help , some did not , cant hurt to take it in and have them look at it.
thanks Hammer for your input.
Iron...............what gear do you have?, that is important

OK, I just filled up the tank on my brand nrw 2011 Laramie, 3.92 gears and I got 13.5 mpg mixed. I also paid 44k out the door every option but sunroof and rear dvd.

I had to tell the truth

The OP has 3.92s, as all the 4th gen TRX4s are. IronHayden, is it alot of starting and shutting off? How far between starting and shutting off? I know one thing, the TRX4 tires don't help. Looked them up on Tire Rack, says they weigh 47 pounds, and probably a bunch of rolling resistance. Dodge says on the body builders chart a 275/70R17 tire equiped truck weighs about 42 pounds more than one with 265/70R17s. Lotsa rotating weight to get moving. I'm so tempted to get rid of them and get some Firestone Destination A/Ts 265, I know whatever mileage it picks up would not begin to pay for the tires even if I sold them used. But around town I bet it would pick up some, and MDS would prob stay on more on the highway. Less downshifting. I'm not real crazy about them anyway.

I ditched the TRX stock 275 AT's after driving the new truck for 500 miles and bought 255's (General Grabber) that spec'ed out 1" shorter. Did it for a quieter ride but did not notice much of a change in performance or mpg.

I routinely get 16.3mpg in combination small town and rural driving at speeds of 45-55mph but I drive like a grampa...which I am.

my truck has the 20's on it which makes my gear even less
i asked this in another thread but nobody replied so ill try here since BULLRAM just mentioned it. i dont understand how the rim size makes a difference. is it not the tire diameter? like you can have a 20" rim with a 31" tire or 17 with 35's or vise versa. i had 20's and they never fit with my lift so i put some 17's on with a 37" tire and my MPG is better now than stock with no lift.

Correct. It is the tire diameter. However the stock 20" tire is 33" and the stock 17" tire is 31.5" so we tend to take it for granted.

i get anywhere between 15-16 mpg in mine and thats almost all city driving as i live on an Island. The highway MPH is 55 so i usually cruise about 50-60mph. I have changed the exhaust and i drive very moderately
