Default 09 Ram Issue

I have a 09 Ram with 17K miles on it, 5.7 Hemi and a crew cab. all of a sudden the ERam is making a lot of noise when I turn, more so when I turn to the right, like a squealing or loud winning noise, still does it when I go to left, but not nearly as bad. Any ideas?

I am taking it to Dealership regardless but thought I would ask to get an idea.

Check your power steering fluid. That sound is pretty indicative of that system being out of fluid.

I don't know why I did not check that earlier, I thought I had, but it was low and I added some and problem fixed, Thank you.

How often does this run down, I have had the truck for about a year and a half, so I am guessing there is no leak but who knows.

I don't know about other people, but I don't consider power steering fluid to be a "consumable" I'd park it over night and lay a sheet of cardboard under your truck and see if you can catch it leaking. I say do this because it might only leak at certain periods causing you some headaches when you take it to the dealer. Having proof that it is indeed leaking would ease things a bit. At least I hope.

At any rate, keep an eye on the levels.

I have had numerous Dodges over the years, 1976, 86 and 92 Ramchargers, a 56 B3B and a 03 1500 sport. I thought all Dodge truck owners considered power steering fluid a consumable.

My 1997 Ram had no problem keeping its fluid in the system.

Never had a problem with being low on power steering fluid with my 03 or 08. My buddies 02 has a problem keeping antifreeze in the system though lol.

Our 02 had a power steering issue but apparently a few hoses in the system were bad - got them replaced and it never acted up again.

Our 09 has been more or less flawless thus far.
