Maybe he needs a truck for his business or job. Nothing wrong with trying to enhance the economy in either case. The best way might be to negotiate discounts with an independent gas station.

When I put a lift and 35" tires on my 2nd Gen 'twas the last time I saw double digit MPGs, unless I happened to go on a trip that was ALL highway on that tank, then I might eek out 11.5 mpgs IF I stayed under 75 the whole time... LOL..

Thanks for the replies.
You hit it on the head 05Dakotaho. I bought the truck when I had the toys that had to be trailed by the Ram. Due to the economy, I sold the ATV's/motorcycle. I like the Ram so much, there is no way I will let it go, esp. just to get a smaller car.
Guys, I know that a smaller car would be one option, it's just not MY option.
To the replies regarding the cai/tuner, thanks, that is pretty much what I thought, as you would have to spend MORE than it is logically worth. I have already done the math. So, if I could pick up these items cheap, that would be the ticket.
Thanks again.

Speaking as a Brit, we have higher fuel prices than you guy's and fuel economy is high on our priority's. The best car I ever had was my 1.9TDI VW Passat I was getting a tested 52MPG!!!

I had a diesel Mitsubishi Pajero which is about the biggest 4x4 we get on our roads, this did 24MPG until I found that I could put vegetable oil in it after a while in the UK the authorities got wise to this and put the price of veg oil so it was comparable to the "gas" price at the time which was 80p a ltr.

Get a manual next time as, drive like a truck driver would (ex trucker) ie start to slow down miles in advance etc, bike?!

However I bought a Hemi RAM because the biggest engined car I've ever had was the 4x4 which did 0-60 in about 3 days, I've never had any power plus I get tax free fuel!!!

Air up your tires to 38psi. It does help mileage , but might make the ride a little firmer. Windows up when out on the highway.
